TRIBAL STUDY CENTRE

The tribal study centre of the Margherita college was established on 21st April 2003. Its aim is to study and promote studies on Tribal Societies and their art, craft and culture etc. The centre shall conduct studies, survey, research, workshops, seminars etc. into various aspects of the tribal life and culture. It shall develop a library, publications and manuscripts relating to tribal life, art and culture.

 

The centre has also opened a tribal museum to showcase the tribal art and culture. It has collected articles of art and artifacts of different tribal communities. Recently the Tribal Study Centre organized a workshop on “MUSEOLOGY” on 21st May2011.

FEW ONGOING UGC SCHEMES

  • UGC schemes for Higher Education for persons with Special needs is launced by Margherita College under UGC’s 11th plan. Under this scheme 3% seats are reserved for differently able students.
  • Remedial Coaching for SC/ST/OBC (excluding Creamylayer) & minorities under UGC’s 11th plan launched by Margherita College in order to enable students belonging to SC/ST/OBC (excluding creamylayer) and minorities to come up to the level necessary for pursuing higher students efficiently and to reduce their failure and dropout rates.
  • Coaching for Competitive Examination : In the present day of competitive job market to empower our students with adequate skill for withstanding competition to get employed in Govt. and Semi Govt. organizations / department. The college under the assistance of the UGC arrange Coaching classes free of cost for the aspirants.

Through the scheme is mainly for the SC/ST/OBC and Minority communities; same proportion of aspirants from general category are also given the opportunity to avail the facility of free coaching under the scheme.
