Margherita College is a co-educational, multi-disciplinary institution of higher education with provision of instruction in Arts, Science and Commerce streams leading to B.A., B. Sc. and B. Com. degrees.  A few departments are also running  short-term certificate courses in most demanding areas on self-financing basis. The College has a recognised Contact Centre in its campus for facilitating Post Graduate Distance Education towards the aspiring students under the Directorate of Distance Education of Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh.

 The College with the financial assistance from UGC during Eight Plan started two vocational courses on Computer Application and Agro-Service.

During the Tenth Plan of UGC Grants the College has started six Career-Oriented Courses on  Information Technology, Spoken English,  Food Processing, Silviculture, Translation and Rural Development.
